Promoting Positive and Humane Interactions between People and their Pets
Education of safe human-canine interactions to Prevent Dog Bites.
Importance of teaching children pet safety and good manners with dogs. While children and dogs can enjoy a wonderful relationship, it takes time, training, and knowledge to establish a safe and harmonious relationship. Unsupervised kids and dogs can sometimes result in dog aggression or dog bites. Because of a child’s small size and unpredictable behavior, there are several things every pet owner or parent should know about children and dogs. Class includes topics such as understanding the mind of a dog and their five senses, interpreting body language and calming signals, a “be a tree” program, pet etiquette, and manners with dogs. This class focuses on fun and interactive activities to teach children how to read the dog’s body language and how to act safely around both their own dog and strange dogs.
Obedience Skills & Training for Your Dog
Learn what positive reinforcement training is and how to train your puppy and/or adult dogs. Positive reinforcement is the best way to teach puppies and any age dog new behaviors and /or change old habits. Positive reinforcement training uses a reward (treats, praise, toys, anything the dog finds rewarding) for desired behaviors. Because the reward makes them more likely to repeat the behavior, positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful tools for shaping or changing your dog’s behavior. Dogs understand whether their interactions in the environment have positive or negative consequences. Then they adjust their behavior to get more of the good and less of the bad. Positive reinforcement training is the best way to shape your dog’s behavior and strengthen the bond between you and your pooch – in a positive rewarding way (not using the “old school” fear training methods). A training based on positive reinforcement methods creates a stronger bond between dog and owner, resulting in a more confident, happier, and well-behaved dog.
Obedience Skills & Training for Your Dog
A “Positive /no fear/no force” training of touch and movement that reduces stress, tension, creates body awareness, builds confidence, balance and teaches your canine companion how to think and act versus react. TTouch® combines observations and philosophy, bodywork, ground exercises, and equipment to help animals find physical, mental, and emotional balance, as a way of enhancing communication, cooperation, and harmony. This integrative approach understands behavior as a means of communication rather than attitude or personality.
I’ve been a client of Pawsitive Relations for 9 years and I highly recommend it. My furkid has received T-Touch, behavior assessment among other services, and her wagging tail is the best testament to this 5 star review. I recently took the CPR & First Aid course because I wanted to learn more about how to do it in pets, and now I feel confident to step up and be a fur hero – if I’m ever put in an emergency situation.”

Canine Massage
Just like people, dogs can get stiff and sore. After a day of romping at the daycare or dog park, massage can help reduce stiffness and fatigue when they return home by increasing circulation and flushing waste products from the muscle tissues. Massage can help your dog deal with the stress of boarding that they may experience while you’re away. Massage is not petting! Massage is a focused, intentional, and deliberate touch to balance, soothe, and energize.

RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM
“There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other.
There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth.
So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.”
