Doggy Do’s and Don’ts: Canine Etiquette and Safety for Kids

Importance of teaching children pet safety and good manners with dogs. While children and dogs can enjoy a wonderful relationship, it takes time, training, and knowledge to establish a safe and harmonious relationship. Unsupervised kids and dogs can sometimes result in dog aggression or dog bites.

Class includes topics such as understanding the mind of a dog and their five senses, interpreting body language and calming signals, a “be a tree” program, pet etiquette, and manners with dogs.

This class focuses on fun and interactive activities to teach children how to read the dog’s body language and how to act safely around both their own dog and strange dogs.

This Class will give you the tools to interpret your Pet’s food label and make smart choices when it comes to your Pet’s wellness and nutrition.

HOW TO INTERPRET YOUR PET’S FOOD LABELS. With hundreds of brands in the market and innumerable ingredients, it could be hard to decipher what’s best or to interpret what’s on the label.

  • WHAT ARE THE AAFCO LABELING GUIDELINES? If you don’t understand them, you simply don’t know what you are buying

  • WHY ALL PET FOODS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL! What are the “filler” ingredients? Differences between meat, meal, rendered meats, animal by-products, human grade and feed grade.

  • WHAT ARE “THE GOOD, THE BAD & THE UGLY INGREDIENTS?” MUST AVOID Ingredients! Preservatives, colors and thickening agents.

  • IS A GRAN-FREE DIET GOOD OR NOT? Are grain-free formulas safe?

  • THE WAY FOOD IS PROCESSED MATTERS: Difference between raw, semi-cooked, freeze-dried, canned, and homecooked.

Emergencies come in many forms: fires, hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, violent storms, and even terrorism. In the event of extreme weather or a disaster, would you know what to do to protect your pet? Leaving pets out of evacuation plans can put pets, pet owners, and first responders in danger. Even if you try to create a safe place for them, pets left behind during a disaster are likely to be injured, lost, or worse.

  • Create a comprehensive pet disaster plan tailored to your pet’s needs.

  • Assemble an emergency supply kit for your pet.

  • Identify pet-friendly shelters and accommodations.

  • Ensure proper identification and necessary paperwork for your pets.

  • Understand evacuation procedures and transportation considerations.

  • Handle stress and anxiety in pets during emergencies

  • Have a plan to reunite with your pet – if they become displaced
